Progress with EU’s Eastern Partnership discussed at the Riga Castle

Today, the President of Latvia met with Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, in the Riga Castle. President of Latvia and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister discussed EU’s Eastern Partnership, bilateral relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan, mutual cooperation in the framework of international organisations and current foreign policy priorities.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister extended the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan to the President of Latvia to visit Azerbaijan. Other issues discussed during the meeting included development of regional transport corridors and energy initiatives, as well as efforts required to deepen the bilateral trade ties.
