Since 8 July 2023 Edvīns Severs has been the Foreign Affairs Adviser to the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

E. Severs joined the Foreign Service in 2014 in the Division of Western, Central and Southern Europe countries, continuing his work in the Office of the Political Director and, from 2016, in the Minister’s Office. From August 2019 to August 2022, E. Severs continued his service at the Latvian Embassy in Ukraine. From August 2022 to July 2023, he was Head of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

E. Severs holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Latvia. 

For his selfless and professional work in wartime conditions at the Latvian Embassy in Ukraine, E. Severs was awarded the Order of the Three Stars.
