Inese Liepiņa has been Deputy Chief of State Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2019, and her daily work has been related to Latvia's international cooperation and image on diplomatic protocol issues.

Inese Liepiņa started her career in the Foreign Service in 1991 as a senior referent in the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Later she continued her work at the Latvian Embassy in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She was the Head of the Secretariat for the Promotion of Foreign Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and at the same time she was the part of the team of President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga (1999-2007), responsible for economic and investment attraction issues during foreign visits. In 2005, she was posted to the Latvian Embassy in the United States of America, where she performed the functions of Economic Counsellor. In 2009, upon her return to Latvia, she joined the State Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Chief of the State Protocol, assuming responsibility for ensuring the visits of high-ranking foreign officials during Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In 2016, she was posted to the Embassy of Latvia in the People's Republic of China as Deputy Head of the Embassy and Economic Counsellor.

Education

Inese Liepiņa holds a Master's degree in Public Management from the Department of Public Management, Faculty of Economics, University of Latvia.
