To mark the 10th anniversary of the 17 September 2012 opinion of the Constitutional Rights Committee of the President of Latvia “On the Constitutional Foundations of the State of Latvia and the Inviolable Core of the Satversme”, the President of Latvia is hosting a discussion of the constitutional meaning of the inviolable core of the Satversme and the contribution of the Constitutional Rights Committee to the development of the state rights of Latvia.

Presentations at the conference will also be given by Jautrīte Briede, justice of the Constitutional Court, professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, and Rudīte Vīduša, Senator of the Administrative Cases Department of the Senate of the Supreme Court. For the discussion session of the conference, the presenters will be joined by Ilma Čepāne, Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the 11th Convocation of the Saeima, professor emerita of the University of Latvia, Diāna Apse, associate professor of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, and Anda Smiltēna, Deputy State Secretary on Sectoral Policy of the Ministry of Justice. The discussion will be moderated by Lauris Liepa, sworn attorney, lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia.

The conference will be live streamed on the website and social media account of the President of Latvia.
