On 14 June, the first ever Remembrance Day for the Victims of Communist Genocide ceremony at the History Tactile, a memorial to victims of Soviet occupation revealed last year, at the Museum of Latvian Occupation, which re-opened on 30 May, will take place. Top officials of Latvia, members of the Latvian Association of Victims of Political Repressions and people will lay flowers at the memorial History Tactile to commemorate 15 thousand Latvians deported to Siberia during Soviet occupation to strengthen the symbolic bond between tragic moments in the history of Latvian nation and today. After the ceremony, Latvian Association of Victims of Political Repressions will complete the annual march from Museum of Latvian Occupation to Freedom Monument. After re-opening, the new wing of the Museum of Latvian Occupation will showcase the five-decade long history of Latvian occupation between 1940-1991.
