President of Latvia Egils Levits will remotely address 119 local government officials about forthcoming event ‘Deported. Never forgotten. 80 years since deportations of June 14’

This summer, on 14 June, Latvia will mark 80 years since the first wave of 1941 mass deportations when more than 15 thousand Latvians were displaced. Names of every person deported in 1941 will be simultaneously read out across Latvia on 14 June 2021 to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of this horrendous crime against Latvian people. Event is organised by Chancery of the President of Latvia, National Library of Latvia, experts of the National Archives of Latvia, Jāņa sēta Map Publishers and public media.
