Valsts prezidents Rīgas pilī pasniedz augstākos Latvijas valsts apbalvojumus
On the eve of the anniversary of the restoration of independence of the Republic of Latvia, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis presented the highest state awards of Latvia at a solemn ceremony in the Riga Castle.

When addressing the present, the President of Latvia has emphasised that we pay tribute to the people who have promoted the freedom of our country and people in the Riga Castle today, the People who are the bearers of the strength of our people and the creators of its destiny. Hence, these awards are the highest acknowledgement of their dignity in Latvia and for Latvia.

All the medalled individuals share outstanding love of the Fatherland and selfless work for the benefit of Latvia. There were 93 highest state awards presented in total for outstanding work in the profession, a lifetime contribution, and successful activity at the solemn ceremony in the Riga Castle. There were 40 people awarded with the Order of the Three Stars, 14 people awarded with the Order of Viesturs, and 39 people awarded with the Cross of Recognition.
