On 13 May, for the 19th time, as part of the international culture event “European Night of Museums”, Latvia will host Museums Night, when the residence of the President of Latvia at the Riga Castle will open its doors.

From 15.00 to midnight, you will be able to walk through all the representative halls of the Riga Castle: Coats of Arms Hall, White Hall, Ambassador Accreditation Hall and Festival Hall. You also can visit the Main Foyer stairs, Green Hall and Blue Foyer, Riga Room, Dorothea’s Room and the office of the first President of Latvia Jānis Čakste.

Visitors choosing to come to Riga Castle will be allowed to admire the Gift room where president’s office keeps official gifts presented to different heads of state and sets of highest state decorations. Riga Castle Night of Museums visitor programme includes various musical performances.

The theme of Riga Castle Night of Museums' "Creation" will be reflected in the stories of important personalities whose work has shaped the Riga Castle and whose professional careers are related to the institution of the President of the Republic of Latvia.

Riga Castle is a unique piece of Baltic heritage, which has embodied power for many centuries to become the symbol of our statehood a century ago. Presidents of Latvia who have resided in the Riga Castle before the first occupation of Latvia and after restoration of independence have all had significant impact on how Latvia developed as a state.
