Raimonds Vējonis
According to Article 51 of the Law on State Awards, when assuming the office, the President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis obtains the right to the Order of the Three Stars, the Order of Viesturs, the Cross of Recognition of the highest class, and the Chain of the Order of the Three Stars. Raimonds Vējonis was awarded these highest state awards in a solemn ceremony on July 8. 

 

Thus, Raimonds Vējonis is entitled to the state awards for carrying out his functions set out in other Articles of the Law on State Awards, id est, to establish a Chapter of Orders for his term of office, to appoint a Chancellor and Members of the Chapter of Orders (who are managing all the issues associated with the state honours by law), to participate in evaluation of candidates for awarding the highest state awards, to express his initiative proposals which individuals should be awarded, and to present the highest state honours both for great achievements for the State of Latvia and during his state visits, as well as to decide other issues related to the highest state awards.
