On 10 May, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. The main topic of the meeting was the security situation in the country on 9 May.
President Egils Levits:
Such pro-Russian actions as they were on 9 May last year were marginal and small this year. This means that internal security has improved, also as a result of the work of the State Police and security services. The State police and the security services worked very well.
We can see that the mood in society is also changing. Most of the society understands that it is necessary to distance ourselves from Russia, from the Russian world. This process is moving forward.
In the meeting also education reform and health sector issues were discussed.
