In a letter sent to the Saeima (Parliament of Latvia) today, President of Latvia Egils Levits has named his candidate for Public Digital Media Council. Following the requirements of the Article 13.1 of the Public Service Media Digital Broadcasting and Governance Law, President of Latvia has nominated Sanita Upleja-Jegermane for the Public Digital Media Council.
‘Sanita Upleja-Jegermane has got extensive journalistic experience. She is known for high professional and ethical standards. Sanita Upleja-Jegermane is capable of combining national and global perspectives of media policy. Her opinion articles signal deep understanding of constitutional values inscribed in Satversme. I am confident she has the necessary qualifications to join the Public Digital Media Council and make significant contribution to development of public broadcasting service,’ said Egils Levits about his chosen candidate.
