Valsts prezidents: Austrumu partnerībai arī turpmāk jābūt nozīmīgai Eiropas Savienības ārpolitikas prioritātei
“The European Union’s foreign policy should continue prioritising the Eastern Partnership,” stressed President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis on Tuesday, October 24, during his meeting with the President of the Senate of the Romanian Parliament Mr Kalin Popescu Tariceanu in the Riga Castle.

“The Eastern Partnership Summit forthcoming at the end of November will be an opportunity to demonstrate political support to the aspirations of the Eastern Partnership countries for eurointegration, as well as to develop practical cooperation on strengthening institutions and anti-corruption measures, promoting trade, developing energy projects and other areas,” stated the President of Latvia.

Raimonds Vējonis noted the successful implementation of the decisions made by the NATO Summit in Warsaw in Latvia. He emphasised that the joint efforts of the Alliance's partners to reduce hybrid threats, including strengthening cooperation between the EU and NATO, should be intensified at the same time.

During conversation with the President of the Senate of Rumania, there were bilateral relations between Latvia and Romania, as well as cooperation in international organizations discussed. The officials noted that both Latvia and Romania would celebrate the centenary of their statehood next year that was another reason for closer cooperation and exchange of experience.
