This was a historic summit due to the following two reasons.

First, today NATO member states adopted the new strategic concept NATO2030. It lays out the framework for NATO activities for this decade: NATO’s actions and tasks aimed at defending the interests of its member states and values underpinning the Alliance.

Secondly, what also made this summit historic was that United States clearly and unequivocally reaffirmed its commitment to close partnership and unity within NATO. NATO is unified when it comes to defending its interests and values.

NATO is the world’s most powerful defence alliance. I do not expect that to change, especially when decisions of this summit clearly show that all member states share the same understanding of the current international situation: geopolitics have changed, democracies are now competing against authoritarian powers like Russia and Chine, which means that all democratic countries in the Alliance need to stand together.
