H. E. Mr Klaus Werner Iohannis, President of Romania, will pay an official visit to Latvia on 15–16 October to meet with senior Latvian officials and take part in the Riga Conference.

Klaus Iohannis will arrive in Riga on 15 October. His visit will start with a welcoming ceremony at the Riga Castle, followed by bilateral meeting between the delegations of the two countries and joint press conference of Egils Levits and Klaus W. Iohannis. Heads of both states will discuss cooperation within NATO and the Three Seas Initiative, foreign policy priorities of the European Union (EU), with particular focus on the situation in the Western Balkans and EU’s Eastern Partnership, and bilateral relations between the countries.

Presidents will then proceed to lay the flowers at the Freedom Monument. Romanian president will also meet with Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece and Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš.

On 16 October Egils Levits and Klaus Werner Iohannis will take part in the Riga Conference.

To cover the media events of the Romanian president’s visit, media are required to obtain a special accreditation, presented upon arrival. Media are also required to present a compatible COVID-19 vaccination pass or recovery certificate.

Deadline for media accreditation for the official visit of the President of Romania Klaus Werner Iohannis to Latvia is 12 October 2021. Each media representative must send a separate accreditation from to the Chancery of the President of Latvia. Applications filed after the deadline will not be processed.
