On 24 October, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Chair of the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Committee Agita Zariņa-Stūre at the Riga Castle to discuss current issues in the field of education. During the meeting, the parties discussed the planned regulation of distance learning and the introduction of the “Programme at School” funding model, as envisaged in the proposed amendments to the Education Law. The progress of the amendments to the Law on Higher Education Institutions concerning the work of university councils was also reviewed.
