President Rinkēvičs will visit the eastern border of Latvia

On Tuesday, 8 August, President Edgars Rinkēvičs will visit the eastern border of Latvia and the State Border Guard (SBG) units - Krivanda Border Guard Unit, Opoļi Border Guard Unit and Robežnieki Border Guard Unit.

During the visit, President Rinkēvičs will get acquainted with the situation on the border, the work of the border guards and the border infrastructure, as well as discuss issues related to the security of the country and the region and strengthening of the border.

It should be emphasised that Latvia's eastern border is also the external border of the European Union with Russia and Belarus.

Jāuzsver, ka Latvijas austrumu robeža vienlaikus ir arī Eiropas Savienības ārējā robeža ar Krieviju un Baltkrieviju.

Programme of the visit

11.00 – President Edgars Rinkēvičs will inspect the Krivanda Border Guard Unit and the border section. Media opportunities: photo/video in accordance with the instructions of the SBG, followed by the President's comments in case of media interest.

~12.35 – President Edgars Rinkēvičs will inspect the Opoļi Border Guard Unit and the border section
