On 30 July, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Minister for Finance Arvils Ašeradens at the Jūrmala residence. During the meeting, the parties discussed the state budget preparation process and measures to increase the efficiency of public administration expenditure. The President called for the continued constructive dialogue throughout the budget drafting process with line ministries, government cooperation partners, and representatives of the education and demography sectors, as well as other fields and organisations. He emphasised the importance of ensuring that the proposed state budget reflects the key national priorities – security, demography, and education.
